Terms of Service

These terms cover the use of Lengify, a private learning platform provided by an English-language academy to its own students, their parents and its staff. Using an account means accepting them.

Who may have an account

Accounts are created by the academy as part of enrolment. There is no public sign-up. A student's account is created for them; where the student is a child, a parent or guardian account may be linked to it.

Your account

• Sign-in details are personal. Do not share them, and do not sign in as somebody else.
• An account may be signed in on two devices at a time. Signing in on a third signs out the oldest.
• An invited account must set its own password the first time it signs in. The issued one stops working at that point.
• Tell the academy immediately if you think somebody else has your password.

Schoolwork

• Work handed in should be your own. Where the platform suggests a mark automatically, a teacher can always overrule it, and the teacher's decision is the one that counts.
• Late work is flagged, never blocked. Nothing is deducted automatically for handing in late or for running past a timer — the teacher decides what it means.
• Exam results are shown only once a teacher releases them. Until then nobody sees a score, including parents.
• Practice in Extras is not recorded and does not affect any grade.

Messaging

• Messaging is for schoolwork and academy business.
• Students can write to the staff who teach them. They cannot message other students.
• Parents can reply in conversations a teacher starts, and cannot start one.
• Conversations are kept. Archiving hides a conversation from your inbox; it does not delete it, and an academy owner may be permitted to read conversations within their own academy.
• Messages are rate-limited. Abuse, harassment or spam may cost you access to the feature — or to the account.

The material

Tasks, passages, audio, questions and answer keys belong to the academy or its licensors. You may use them for your own study. You may not copy, republish, sell or distribute them, and you may not share answer keys with other students.

We will be straight with you about the limits of that: material shown on a screen can be photographed. The platform makes copying inconvenient and traceable rather than impossible, and nobody should tell you otherwise.

Availability

The platform is provided as it is. We aim to keep it running and to keep your work safe, and work saves as you go so that a lost connection costs you nothing — but no online service can promise it will never be unavailable. Where a timed task is affected by a fault on our side, raise it with your teacher: they can reopen or re-mark it.

Suspending an account

The academy may deactivate an account — for leaving the academy, or for a serious breach of these terms. Deactivating signs the account out everywhere. Work already handed in stays on the academy's record; accounts are deactivated rather than deleted so that grades remain attached to the person who earned them.

Fees

Tuition, fees and refunds are between you and the academy, under whatever you agreed at enrolment. Nothing is charged through this platform and no payment details are held here.

How information is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Changes

These terms may be updated. Where a change materially affects you, the academy will tell you. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
